Writing

“Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalms 37:4 (NIV)

Peggy began writing children’s books after her grandchildren’s first visit to her home in Bolivia. After spending weeks with them, she wanted to do something to keep in touch after they returned home. She began writing stories for the children about the animals at Rumi Rancho, their home and ministry base, so they wouldn’t forget their trip or their grandparents. In 2003, those stories became the nine-book series of Rumi Rancho Tails, self-published by the Cunninghams. In 2010, Peggy wrote a second series about her childhood memories called PegTales, which were also self-published. With the success in self-publishing, she decided to pursue a traditional publisher for her next series.

After attending a writer’s conference, Peggy knew God was leading her to write for Him and began honing her skills and submitting her work to different genres: devotions, children’s devotions, anthologies, magazines and other Christian avenues. The Voice of Grace and Truth, a tri-state Christian newspaper, asked her to write for their children’s column.

Because of the distance between her and her grandchildren, and the experience of communicating long-distance with them, she answered the call and submitted a story for the book Grandparenting Through Obstacles: Overcoming Family Challenges to Reach Your Grandchildren for Christ. She is blessed to have her story, “I Like Jesus,” included in this award winning and bestselling book by Dianne E. Butts and Reneé Gray-Wilburn, released by Pix-N-Pens Publishing in 2012.

In 2013, Peggy signed a three-book contract with Pix-N-Pens Publishing for her Really Rare Rabbits series. Her short story, “Stolen Ice Cube,” is included in the bestselling romance collection Heart Bouquets, released by Write Integrity Press in February 2013. Peggy's first non-fiction book, Dancing Like Bees, released in 2016 by Pix-N-Pens Publishing. Dancing Like Bees is a devotional for adults of all ages. In February of 2017, Peggy signed a contract with Write integrity Press/Pix-N-Pens Publishing for her new children's series, Hooray for Holidays--a four-book storybook series to be released quarterly in 2018. Also, released in 2018, Shape Your Soul: 31 Exercises for Faith that Moves Mountains––a women's devotional.

Peggy loves being a missionary and never thought she’d desire to do anything else––until she began to write. She considers herself blessed to be called of the Lord to a ministry in missions and writing. God has given her the desires of her heart.
